Consultative Group on Indonesia (2006) melaporkan, gempa ini mengakibatkan 6 ribu orang meninggal, 50 ribu orang luka-luka, 500 ribu sampai sejuta orang kehilangan tempat tinggal serta menelan kerugian sebesar 2,9 triliun rupiah (3,1 miliar US dollars).
